NEW CONSTRUCTION At BCC

While construction continues on three different building projects on the Brunswick Community College campus, more is about to begin. A new Applied Plant Science Building , Athletic and Aquatics Center , and addition to the Odell Williamson Auditorium have all been underway for months. The addition to the Odell Williamson Auditorium began in May and was the first building project utilizing funds from the $30 million bond referendum passed by voters in 2004. In October, crews cleared the ground near the Auditorium for the new Athletic and Aquatics Center and they're continuing to make progress on what will become a 55,000 square foot facility. Now BCC is preparing to break ground for three other buildings.

Bids for the new Early Childhood and Education Center and the Student Center have been accepted. Both projects are now in the approval and awarding process. Bids have also been accepted for the renovation to building D and soon more bids will be submitted for the addition to that building.

Progress for the structures under construction is on schedule, according to Dr. Stephen Greiner, BCC President. The Applied Plant Sciences building and addition to the Odell Williamson Auditorium will be completed in spring of 2008. The Athletic and Aquatics Center is scheduled to open in spring of 2009.
