BCC STUDENTS AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP
Supply, NC – Brunswick Community College (BCC) is proud to announce the recipients of the State Employee Credit Union (SECU) Foundation’s People Helping People Scholarship for 2008. Elisa Edelman is enrolled in the BCC Associate Degree Nursing program, and Sharon Crawford is part of the Practical Nursing Program at BCC. The women will both receive $1,250 each semester for two years.
SECU has established the scholarship program to assist students in each of the fifty-eight community colleges in the North Carolina Community College System. There are 116 two-year scholarships valued at up to $5,000 each. The recipients are selected based on financial need and academic achievement. They must also demonstrate leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. Elisa says the award is going to make a huge difference in her life. She says, “Nursing school is extremely demanding and it’s financially challenging to work less while taking classes. This will help me in so many ways.” This is the third year the scholarship has been awarded to BCC students. |
