Student Government Association |
|
The SGA is the primary student organization on campus. It exists to promote good relationships and understanding among students, faculty, and administration. The SGA President also serves on the College's Board of Trustees. This is a very important group, as they are responsible for many of the special events and student activities on campus.
Amanda Stackhouse is our new SGA president and Brandon Schindewolf is our new vice president. Jean Warford is the new senator for Horticulture/Turfgrass. Senators are needed for each program area. Please let me know of students who will serve from each of your areas.
Thank you for your assistance.

BCC Ambassadors Selected for 2006-2007 |
Amanda Stackhouse and Rosie Sanchez have been selected as Student Ambassadors for BCC based on their leadership potential, demonstration of community involvement, and their ability to be good representatives for BCC and its students. They assist the College during registration periods, help with official BCC functions, and BCC Odell Williamson Events.
Amanda has been home schooled for her entire school career. As a junior in high school, she began taking courses through the dual-enrollment program at BCC. Stackhouse notes, “One of the advantages of being home schooled is that I learned how to study and do research on my own. I had to be self-motivated to get my studies done. So in coming to a College environment, I already had the advantage of being able to meet deadlines and schedule my workload.” She also is the new Student Government Association president. She plans to complete her Associate of Arts degree at BCC, then transfer to Appalachian State University to study Speech Pathology with a minor in Spanish.
Rosie lives in New Hanover County but selected BCC because she volunteers at Brunswick Educational Transition Program (BETC), which assists residents whose first language is not English. She says “becoming an ambassador is a good way for me to help promote the College, help other students, learn more about the College, and help it be an even better school for everyone.” She likes that BCC is small and that the instructors give individual attention. She volunteers on Saturdays at BETC and will be helping them create a magazine about BCC and BETC for Spanish-speaking individuals. She is in the College Transfer program and hopes to go into the International Business program.
