Get Involved

There are a number of ways to get involved with the Brunswick Community College Foundation, and many of them do not require a financial donation.

Fin’s Fan Club Student-Athlete Scholarship Program

Fin’s Fan Club members provide financial support for Brunswick Community College’s (BCC) Student-Athlete Scholarship Program with a minimum $240 tax-deductible donation made by an annual gift or through pledging direct debit of $20.00/month through the Brunswick Community College Foundation. Create opportunities for student-athletes at BCC and receive benefits including donor recognition and invitations to Fin’s Fan Club events.

Women in Philanthropy & Leadership of Brunswick (WPLB)

An organization of philanthropic-minded women organized to provide mentorship and financial scholarship support to young women in Brunswick County.  WPLB members gather for their Annual Membership meeting in the fall and volunteer their time and talents in various mentorship roles throughout the year. Volunteers serve as mentors for middle school girls, nursing students at BCC, and the BCC Foundation Student Ambassadors.  Annual dues of a minimum of $100 support several scholarships for current BCC students.  WPLB hosts the “I. Am. Extraordinary.” (i.a.e.) Leadership Conference each spring inviting 7th-grade girls from across the county to BCC for a day of career exploration.

Scholarship and/or Endowment Creation

Volunteers in the community are needed to make contacts with organizations and individuals interested in establishing community scholarships and/or sustainable scholarship endowment funds. Apart from identifying potential donors, the Foundation appreciates support in soliciting the funds necessary to increase endowments to the $25,000 mark by reaching out to the community for support.

Mentoring Student Ambassadors and/or Student Government Association Members

The Foundation offers opportunities for community members to mentor current BCC students throughout the academic year as they prepare to deliver speeches on behalf of the Foundation and identify possible paths to reach their professional goals.  Students are paired with mentors beginning in August and encouraged to meet periodically throughout the year to develop a relationship and refine their professional presentation and abilities.

Attending Alumni Association Events

The BCC Alumni Association aims to promote a sense of school pride and community among our many graduates. The Association offers social and professional networking events throughout the year for alumni to remain connected to the College and feel supported as they continue to further their education and careers.

Grading Student Scholarship Essays

Each June, the Foundation gathers volunteers to read and score essays from student scholarship applications.  The essays are graded anonymously by community members using a rubric.  Scores are then used in the scholarship application and awarding process.
