Brunswick Community College Students Need Your Vote
BOLIVA, NC – Friday, February 24, from 10am to 12pm, three Brunswick Community College (BCC) students will compete in an art competition resulting in one of three scholarships at the Middle River Convenience (C) Store (corner of HWY 17 North and Old Ocean HWY) in Bolivia, NC. Sponsored by Middle River (C) Store and in partnership with Monster, Coca-Cola and Pepsi, students will receive a scholarship towards their education at BCC. The public will select winners.
Students will draw their depiction of St. Patrick’s Day while promoting a sponsor’s product. Michelle Cathey, and Danielle Pittman both seeking an Associate Degree in Science and Kathryn A. Hewett, seeking an Associate Degree in Nursing have been selected to participate in the 2017 Sketches for Scholarship competition. Artwork will be performed on a (C) Store window between 10am and 12pm. Winners will be selected based on votes from the public. “Please come to the store and vote,” said Elina DiCostanzo, BCC Foundation Director of Resource Development.
Because of the generous support from sponsors, all participants will receive a scholarship. Scholarships will vary from 15 credit hours ($1,190) to 4 credit hours ($333.50).
“This year is the third annual Sketches for Scholarships. Every year the artists have displayed talent and creativity making the competition fun and exciting,” said Hannah Holt, Director of Operations of Holt Oil.
