BCC Collaborates with UNCW to Offer Exciting Student Research Opportunity

A unique research opportunity is knocking! BCC and UNCW are collaborating to offer a FREE, spring honors course through an initiative, called Community College Undergraduate Research Experience (CCURE). This one-credit-hour course, sponsored by UNCW, is HON 191 Research and Discovery. It meets for one hour each week during the semester. Class begins on Jan. 11, 2023 and concludes in May with a required UNCW Showcase Event (virtual).

Dr. Kim Jones, Dean of Arts & Sciences, will serve as Instructor along with a mentor instructor from UNCW. Class size is limited to 10-12 students and fills up fast. While the course is taught at BCC’s Main Campus, students will be fully registered as UNCW students.

Now’s your chance to obtain valuable research experience. Along the way, you will get up close and personal with the Cape Fear River Basin Bottlenose Dolphin as part of this course’s fin photo-identification assessment. For more information, visit UNCW’s Applied Learning website. You may also direct questions to Dr. Jones at jonesk@brunswickcc.edu. Class begins soon, so act today!
