BCC Goes Red
Brunswick Community College celebrated American Heart Month during their annual Go Red for Women® photo shoot on February 5, 2014. The college campus was encouraged to wear red in support of the 6.6 million women in the United States living with heart disease and to honor the over 400,000 who die each year.
The photo shoot was followed by a Lunch & Learn session presented by Pamela Federline on “Being Heart Healthy is More Than Eating a Salad” at noon in the LaDane Williamson Student Center Lobby. Participants were awarded prizes for the heart healthiest lunch and knowing the most about their heart health numbers.
Pamela Federline, Brunswick Community College’s institutional effectiveness coordinator, organizes the photo shoot each year. Federline, who suffered a heart attack at age 46, is now an active advocate for heart disease awareness and prevention.
