BCC Selected by SACSCOC to Present at Annual Meeting

BCC Presentation Showcased TLC Tutoring Program

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) selected BCC’s Dr. Lois Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, and Dr. Kim Jones, Dean of Arts & Sciences, to present at its Annual Meeting.  The presentation took place on Friday, December 3, and showcased BCC’s successful Quality Enhancement Plan with a focus on tutoring. “We are incredibly proud of the 5-year plan we developed and the rate at which we are implementing it, especially in the area of tutoring,” said Dr. Smith.  “The services provided by our TLC (The Learning Center) both in person and online are helping students achieve their academic goals, gain important study skills, and increase their self-confidence.  It was an honor to share our success with people from so many outstanding institutions.”

SACSCOC is the body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.  It serves as the common denominator of shared values and practices primarily among the diverse institutions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Latin America, and certain other international sites approved by the SACSCOC Board of Trustees that award associate, baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degrees.
