BCC SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH ECU

BOLIVIA, NC – On Tuesday, August 27th, East Carolina University (ECU) Interim Chancellor Dan Gerlach and Brunswick Community College (BCC) President Gene Smith signed the Pirate Promise Agreement. Entry into this program guarantees admission to transfer as a junior to ECU upon completing an associate degree from Brunswick Community College.

“We are really proud of what we do for student success and the Pirate Promise improves student access and success by allowing for a smooth transfer into the university” explained Gerlach.

“We guarantee a good quality BCC student. We pride ourselves to have the rigor in our classroom so that our students continue to be successful in the university setting” replied BCC BCC President Smith.

To be eligible for the program, you must be enrolled full-time at BCC in an associate degree program. Early College and Career & College Promise students are eligible if pursuing an approved associate degree and in their junior year of high school. To retain eligibility, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Students enrolled in Pirate Promise will benefit from guaranteed admission, joint academic advising, financial aid counseling and scholarship opportunities, a waived ECU application fee, access to ECU libraries and transit, and more.
