BCC TURFGRASS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM GRADUATE HEADS TO AGUSTA NATIONAL

BOLIVIA, NC – Brunswick Community College (BCC) 2015 graduate of the Turfgrass Management program, Jordan Spitler was recently promoted to Assistant-Superintendent-In-Training at Augusta Nation Golf Club (ANGC). ANGC is the home of the well-known annual Masters Golf Tournament and is one of the most prominent golf clubs in the world. Jordan started at ANGC as an intern while enrolled at BCC. Upon completion of the program and graduation, he was hired as a “Turf Grad,” principally a golf course maintenance crewmember with aspirations to advance towards management. In less than a year, through hard work, Jordan has advanced to his current role.

Jace Myers, Director of the Horticulture & Turfgrass Management Program, also noted that Justin Miller a current student in BCC’s Turfgrass Management Program will start at Pinehurst #6 on December 19, 2016. Justin will be joining Eli Alvarez, an alumnus who currently works on Pinehurst #2.

BCC’s Turfgrass Management Technology curriculum provides the necessary skills to perform duties related to management of golf courses, sports fields, lawn care, irrigation design, and sod production. Courses offered include turfgrass management, irrigation, ornamental horticulture, soil science, entomology, plant pathology, as well as courses in communications, computers, and the social sciences.
