BIP is Reaccredited until 2017
Jun 12, 2013
Supply, NC. – Krista Engels, of Brunswick Community College, helped coordinate a three day site visit and program review of Brunswick Interagency Program (BIP) with the Council of Accreditation (COA) earlier this month. According to Ms. Engels, “this reaccreditation certifies that the program meets national standards in regards to it’s operations, finances, quality improvement, community involvement, safety, and services to adults diagnosed with intellectual disabilities”. The BIP accreditation committee also commented that the accreditation process builds a stronger team and reinforces the quality framework that guides the program.
The Brunswick Community College BIP enables adults with Developmental Disabilities to fully participate in their communities. The program provides Compensatory Education classes in Language Arts, Math, Health, Social Studies, Community Living, and Vocational Education. Instruction includes independent living skills and utilizes the BIP’s apartment complex. Case Management services are also provided through the Brunswick Interagency Program.
