Southport Center

Beautiful Brunswick County is home to an expanding community of creative artisans, reflecting the role of the arts, entertainment and tourism in the economic and community development of North Carolina. Trending increasingly towards the arts over the last four decades, quaint coastal Southport continues to support your creative engagement. It is an exhilarating time to be involved.

At the Southport Center, Brunswick Community College provides studio-based courses in the arts and crafts for lifelong learners, small business owners, and aspiring entrepreneurs. Here, makers of all skill levels can experience the pure joy of creative development amid the fellowship of productive peers. We welcome all who are compelled to create to be a part of the process.

In the tradition of arts and crafts training throughout history, you can progress from beginner, intermediate, to expert in programs including pottery, painting, glass, jewelry, fabric arts, wood, creative writing, and music. You will enjoy stimulating teaching and learning, a robust creative community, and access to Professional Craft Artist Certification (http://www.realentrepreneurship.org/professional-craft-arts).

Looking beyond heritage arts and entrepreneurship, the Southport Center also offers free high school equivalency courses, emergency services training offerings, and distance education opportunities.

To schedule a site tour, please contact Director Barbara McFall by phone at (910) 755-6500 or by email at mcfallb@brunswickcc.edu.
