BCC’s Precautions and Response to COVID-19

June 4, 2020 Update @ 12:00pm:

  • The ACE Computer Lab will reopen Monday – Thursday 10am-2pm for student access.

March 31, 2020 Update @ 10:01am:

March 27, 2020 Update @ 11:55am:

  • Our college will continue to offer online programming, wherever possible through the end of the spring semester.
  • Workforce development courses and hands-on learning activities including labs and clinicals continue to be suspended.  The status of workforce development and hands-on learning activities will be reassessed on April 9, 2020.
  • Access to BCC’s campus sites including Main Campus, BETC, Southport Center, and Leland Center continues to be limited to designated personnel and activities until otherwise notified.
  • BCC’s Graduation Ceremony will be postponed.  A new date will be determined by April 15, 2020.
  • BCC’s Brunswick Interagency Program is suspended until otherwise notified.
  • The Odell Williamson Auditorium events are suspended until otherwise notified.
  • The Fitness and Aquatics Center will remain closed until otherwise notified.
  • BCC’s Baseball and Softball seasons are canceled.

  • BCC’s campus continues to be closed to all non-essential employees, students and visitors until otherwise notified.
  • All classes and activities at BCC’s Southport Center will remain suspended until otherwise notified.
  • All classes and activities at BCC’s BETC will remain suspended until otherwise notified.
  • All classes and activities at BCC’s Leland Center will remain suspended until otherwise notified.
  • BCC’s Brunswick Interagency Program is suspended until otherwise notified.
  • The Odell Williamson Auditorium events are suspended until otherwise notified.
  • The Fitness and Aquatics Center will remain closed until otherwise notified.
  • BCC’s Softball and Baseball seasons are canceled.

Due to developments over the weekend and a continued concern for the health, safety, and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and community members, we provide the following update for Monday, March 16, 2020:

College leadership teams have contingency plans in place and are well prepared to sustain critical college functions, including safety, security, maintenance, information technology and essential business office activities during this time of response to COVID-19.  The College is implementing the following effective Monday, March 16, 2020:

  • Online programming will continue, wherever possible, through March 29, 2020.  All students should check their Moodle sites for additional information regarding their course(s).
  • Workforce development courses and hands-on learning activities scheduled through March 29, 2020 will be rescheduled at a later date.
  • BCC Campus is closed to all non-essential employees, students and visitors.
  • Classes scheduled at BCC’s Southport Center are temporarily suspended through March 29, 2020.
  • All classes and activities scheduled at BCC’s Leland Center, including the Small Business Center and CINErG Co-working space, are temporarily suspended through March 29, 2020.
  • All BCC athletic events will be suspended through April 5.
  • BCC’s Brunswick Interagency Program is temporarily suspended through March 29, 2020.
  • Odell Williamson Auditorium events are temporarily suspended through April 8, 2020.  We are making every effort to reschedule all performances after April 8.
  • The Fitness & Aquatics Center will remain closed through March 29th.

BCC will continue to work with local and state health agencies on prevention and management and will follow the guidance and recommendation of the NC Community College System.

The College will continue to publish updates as they become available via our website – www.brunswickcc.edu/coronavirus, email, social media, and local news stations.

Brunswick Community College (BCC) actively promotes the good health, safety, and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and community members.

While no cases of COVID-19 have been reported within Brunswick County to date, we are taking several steps to preserve the safety and health of our campus community.  Our cross-campus team continues to meet regularly to share information in real-time, consider changes in approach that will best protect our campus community, and set plans in motion for a wide variety of contingencies.

Out of an abundance of care and caution, and to reduce the possibility of exposure, BCC will implement the following effective March 13, 2020:

  • The college will transition to online programming wherever possible beginning Saturday, March 14, 2020, through March 29, 2020.  Workforce development courses and hands-on learning activities during this time period will be rescheduled at a later date.  Computer labs will remain open on the main campus for students needing computer and Internet access.   The Brunswick County Library System will be available for BCC students.  All students should check their Moodle sites for additional information regarding their course(s).
  • BCC’s library will remain open for students only.
  • All classes scheduled at BCC’s Southport Center are temporarily suspended until March 29, 2020.
  • All classes and activities scheduled at BCC’s Leland Center, including the Small Business Center and CINErG Co-working space, are temporarily suspended until March 29, 2020.
  • All BCC athletic events will be suspended through April 5.
  • BCC’s Brunswick Interagency Program is temporarily suspended until March 29, 2020.
  • Odell Williamson Auditorium events are temporarily suspended through April 8, 2020.  The Kingston Trio performance has been rescheduled for May 15, 2020.
  • The Fitness & Aquatics Center will be closed effective Saturday, March 14thand remain closed through March 29th.  Staff will offer online exercise classes via their YouTube channel for members.

BCC will continue to work with local and state health agencies on prevention and management and will follow the guidance and recommendations of the NC Community College System.

As more information and guidance becomes available, it will be shared via email, social media, and other avenues.
