Kevin Lee Named BCC Vice President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer

Brunswick Community College President, Dr. Gene Smith announced today that Kevin Lee will be BCC’s new Vice President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer effective March 1.

Kevin currently serves as BCC’s Department Chair for STEM Programs and Trades and transitions into this position with more than 20 years of experience with the North Carolina Community College System. He has served as an adjunct faculty member, full-time faculty member, director, department chair, and division chair. In these roles, he led the development of multiple initiatives, accreditation standards, program development, and grant funding. For the last three years, Kevin has served as the Chair of STEM & Trades programs at BCC.

In his new role, Kevin will lead areas ranging from institutional curriculum program offerings, faculty, institutional accreditation, and human resources. In addition to these areas of leadership, one of the most important responsibilities of this role is to ensure the Mission of BCC is met by providing high quality, student-centered programs of study, in an effort to help ensure success for every BCC student. “I have a strong belief in the impact of exceptional instruction, mentorship, and the opportunities a community college can provide to a student,” said Kevin. “At BCC, we are very fortunate to have such a talented pool of dedicated faculty members.”

Kevin is a product of the community college system, and a southeast NC native.  He holds A.A.S., B.S, and M.S. degrees in Information Technology and is currently fulfilling his final doctoral dissertation requirements in Educational Leadership.  He and his wife Jennifer reside in Supply, NC, and have three sons, Jake, Jeremy, and Dylan.
