North Carolina Community College System President Visits BCC
North Carolina Community College System President Thomas Stith visited Brunswick Community College as part of his tour across the state. BCC President Gene Smith welcomed President Stith and expressed his appreciation for his leadership. NC State Representative Frank Iler, also a BCC Board of Trustee member, presented a ceremonial check for $15 million from the NC General Assembly during the visit representing BCC’s portion of the $495 million allocated in the recently passed budget. These funds will be used for capital and infrastructure projects. After the welcome, Stith received a tour of the Welding, HVAC, and Computer Technology programs and learned more about how these programs are successfully training students to enter the workforce. The visit concluded with Pres. Stith becoming an honorary member of the BCC Dolphins basketball team and playing a little one-on-one basketball with Pres. Smith while the team cheered them on.
