The Learning Center (TLC)
BCC offers tutoring, study skills, testing, and computer assistance and access. Its mission is to support students academically during their time at Brunswick Community College and help prepare them for the world beyond. The staff assists students in their understanding and application of course content, enhances self-confidence, and encourages positive attitudes toward learning.
Coaching/Tutoring Services
Face-to-Face and Zoom Tutoring Sessions
Writing in all subject areas, math, biology, chemistry, and Spanish tutoring is available during the week by appointment. Due to high demand, tutoring must be for a course in which a student is currently registered.

Online 24/7 with Smarthinking
Online tutoring is also available 24/7 through BCC’s Smarthinking portal through a link in Moodle for almost all courses. Smarthinking provides students with several options for help: virtual real-time scheduled tutoring sessions, submitted question and answer, and essay submission.

Testing
The TLC administers RISE placement tests for curriculum programs, as well as the CASAS placement test for BLET, EMT courses, and the EMS curriculum program.

BLET/EMT Practice Test (CASAS Reading Practice Test): This exam is required for all potential BLET and EMS students.
The TLC serves as a testing site for the ATI TEAS test. To register for a TEAS test or check BCC’s schedule for TEAS testing, please visit atitesting.com or call the ATI Client Care at 1-800-667-7531
