Tutoring & Testing Support

Brunswick Community College (BCC) offers tutoring, study skills, testing, and computer assistance and access. Its mission is to support students academically during their time at BCC and help prepare them for the world beyond. The staff assists students in understanding and applying course content, growing self-confidence, and encouraging positive attitudes toward learning.

Free Tutoring Services

Face-to-Face and Virtual Tutoring Sessions

Writing in all subject areas and math tutoring is available during TLC’s regular business hours by appointment. Due to high demand, tutoring must be for a course in which a student is currently registered.

Email TLC@brunswickcc.edu or call (910) 755-7334 to make an appointment for tutoring.

Online 24/7 with Brainfuse Help Now

Online tutoring is also available 24/7 through BCC’s Brainfuse Help Now portal via a link in Moodle for most courses. Brainfuse Help Now provides students with several options including live tutoring sessions, send-a-question, and Writing Lab paper submission.

Live Tutoring

Testing Services

TLC administers ACCUPLACER Next Generation Reading, Arithmetic, and Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics placement tests for curriculum programs, as well as for Advanced EMT and Paramedic programs. TLC administers the ACCUPLACER next Generation Reading placement test for BLET. Below are some resources for helping you prepare.

TLC also proctors make-up exams for BCC instructors. It is the instructor’s responsibility to get the testing materials and instructions to TLC along with a completed Make-Up Test Referral Form. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule a time to come to TLC to take the test.

To schedule a ACCUPLACER placement test or BCC make-up exam, email TLC@brunswickcc.edu or all (910) 755-7334 to make an appointment.

TLC serves as a testing site for the ATI TEAS test. To register for a TEAS test or check BCC’s schedule for TEAS testing, please visit atitesting.com or call the ATI Client Care at 1-800-667-7531.

WHAT CREDENTIAL ARE YOU HOPING TO EARN?

In about two years, you can earn an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or an Associate of Applied Science degree. Many students continue their education at a four-year college or university.
A diploma takes less time (9-18 months) than a degree and provides you with hands-on training and skills in a specific field. You are workforce ready.
If you want focused training in a specific skill or industry in less than one year, a certificate program may be for you.
In less than six months, you train for employment in a specific field or career type, short-term industry training programs are a great place to start. Some programs offer industry recognized credentials.
High School students can accelerate the completion of college certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees.
Complete a high school credential (GED®) that mirrors a public-school credential.
Prepares adults to take the High School Equivalency Test.
