Emergency Medical Science Degree

Getting Started

Your first semester of training focuses on earning your Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) credentials. If you are brand new to this career field with no former medical training, you can start your degree this spring and begin formal EMT training in the fall. You’ll work towards earning your EMT credential, Advanced EMT credential, and then advance on to the second part of the program.

Already an EMT?

If you’re already an EMT and want to continue training to become a Paramedic, your timing is perfect. You will receive nine college credits toward your degree and begin the second part our program. It is four semesters long, and classes start in January. Through a mix of classroom and practical training, you will learn to access patients, treat wounds, splint traumatic injuries, provide intravenous (IV) therapy, administer medication, electrical therapy, and much more.

Already a Paramedic?

With your current ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS credentials, you are almost there with 49 of the 73 credit hours needed to earn your degree. There’s no time like the present to finish up!
