Associate in Applied Science Degree
The Medical Assisting curriculum prepares multi-skilled health care professionals qualified to perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory procedures.
Course work includes instruction in scheduling appointments, coding and processing insurance accounts, billing, collections, computer operations; assisting with examinations/treatments, performing routine laboratory procedures, electrocardiography, supervised medication administration; and ethical/legal issues associated with patient care.
The Medical Assisting Associate degree program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).

The Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) Policy 210 directs CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited institutions to publish the outcome that the institution believes is most useful to the communities of interest that it serves. Brunswick Community College elected to publish the CMA (AAMA) annual passing rates. The passing rate reported on the most recent Annual Report Form is 100%.
