Brunswick Community College (BCC) hosted its inaugural Career & Technical Education (CTE) Exploration Day, which took place on November 7. This event brought together teachers from Brunswick County Schools (BCS) CTE programs, creating an invaluable opportunity for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The primary objective of the CTE Exploration Day was to enhance awareness of BCC’s wide array of CTE programs and curricula while showcasing the college’s state-of-the-art facilities to Brunswick County CTE teachers and Career Development Coordinators. The event was designed to foster fellowship among like-minded professionals and promote mutual understanding and support.

BCC’s CTE faculty members engaged in open dialogues with BCS teachers and Career Development Coordinators to discuss the ongoing opportunities that BCC’s programs and courses offered to BCS students. The event also provided a comprehensive view of the current employment landscape within the sector, ensuring that education and training align with real-world workforce demands.

The day’s activities included facility tours, discussions, reviews, and curriculum comparisons for each CTE program. This collaborative effort will further strengthen the existing local partnerships and explore new avenues for expanding educational opportunities.

“We are thrilled to host the inaugural CTE Exploration Day, bringing together educators and community partners to enhance the educational experience of our students,” said Dr. Kevin Lee, vice president of Academic Affairs & Chief Academic Officer of Brunswick Community College. “This event exemplifies our commitment to preparing students for future success and addressing the needs of our community’s workforce, while strengthening our commitment for collaboration with Brunswick County Schools.”

Attendees included BCS Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, School Board Members, CTE teachers, Career Development Coordinators, representatives from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (Family & Consumer Sciences), the UNC School of Medicine Office of Rural Initiatives, BCC President, Vice Presidents, Department Chairs, Academic Directors, and Faculty.
