Dosher Foundation Awards Scholarships to BCC Students
Three Brunswick Community College students pursuing careers in the healthcare industry received $1,000 scholarships from Dosher Memorial Hospital Foundation. The funds are part of a $20,000 Noren Foundation grant awarded to the Dosher Foundation to support BCC healthcare students and the hospital’s professional development and training needs.
“Dosher Memorial Hospital Foundation is a true partner in the success of our students,” said The Foundation of BCC Executive Director Teresa Nelson. “We are grateful to the Foundation and all who contribute to its important work.”
This year’s scholarship recipients include Evelyn Andres, Alexander Hughes, and Kiandra Willis. Ms. Andres, currently a Licensed Practical Nurse, is pursuing her Registered Nursing degree with plans to continue to become a Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Andres is a first-generation college student in her family. Mr. Hughes’ career goal is to receive an Associate degree in nursing before transferring to a university to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing with plans to become a Nurse Practioner. Ms. Willis plans to finish the Practical Nursing Program and work in bedside nursing to enhance her skills. She then plans to earn an Associate degree in Nursing at Brunswick Community College and then continue her education to earn a Bachelor’s in Nursing.
Lynda Stanley, President and CEO of Dosher said, “We are grateful to support these three scholarship recipients in pursuing their goals in healthcare. The passion and commitment they exhibit illustrate the significant contributions they will make to the nursing profession.”
