Food Pantry

Research shows that a relationship between inadequate nutrition and decreased academic performance exists. Brunswick Community College actively promotes the good health, safety, and well-being of students and employees to such extent or degree as possible.

The mission of the BCC Food Pantry is to provide food to students at BCC which will help retention rates and provide nutritional needs for students at Brunswick Community College.

The BCC Food Pantry will be open Monday through Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Students will need to complete a short intake form and show proof that they are current BCC Students. The Food Pantry is open to students only at Brunswick Community College.

Students are allowed to self-refer or may be referred by campus departments. Students must be a current BCC student and complete a short application in order to receive food. Once approved, he or she will be able to pick up one bag of non-perishable items every other week. The Food Bank is for students only.

How do I make referrals to the Student Food Pantry?

Faculty and Staff are encouraged to refer a student who expresses a need that can be minimized by accessing the Student Food Pantry. Faculty and Staff should encourage students to contact Julie Olsen or the faculty/staff member can contact Julie for the student. Julie will then contact the student directly.

Will I need to prove that I am eligible to access the pantry?

The Student Food Pantry does not require any documentation of need. The Student Food Pantry operates on the honor system. Students will be asked to complete a brief intake form with basic information. The intake form provides us with valuable information that will enhance our ability to attract support for the Food Pantry.

How many times can I access the Pantry?

Eligible students receive one bag of food every other week. The maximum amount of food a student can receive in a month is 2 bags.
